Something strange is stuck in the snow...

cool picture effects
Wake Forest, NC
December 25-26, 2010
The last time Raleigh, NC had any accumulation of snow on Christmas Day was 63 years ago, in the year 1947.  I know it is no big deal for parts of the world that receive snow annually, but where we live, snow is not common, especially this time of year.  In fact, we have gone many winters with no measureable amount of snow.  It has been fun watching the kids build snowmen and sledding down the hills in the neighborhood.

However, we did have one sad but funny situation happen this morning.  After it had been snowing all night, the kids bolted out the door at the first sign of light. They were playing around, taking advantage of the whole snow thing, when my daughter noticed something sticking out of the snow.  She noticed it was moving a little bit so she ran to see what it was.  Apparently some of our silkie chickens some how got stuck in the snow and the only thing you could see were their heads sticking out.  Fortunately, we managed to save all 6 silkies that had gotten stuck.

It was sad when I first heard the news from my daughter; however, the sadness was immediately replaced once I saw these tiny little heads sticking out of the snow.  I was laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes.  It was the funniest looking thing and I really wish I had brought my camera with me to capture the moment.  Since my first reaction was to save my two legged babies, I never got those pictures.  Next time I will make a mental note to put the chickens in their coop and lock the door behind me.  I will also remember to always bring a camera out with me whenever it snows again, just in case I run across something as funny as today's event.  Live and Learn! How Does My Garden Grow........?

I love gardening and growing flowers as much as I enjoy making lampwork beads. I like to take pictures of the flowers around my yard to inspire my bead art. I get all kinds of ideas for my beads as a result.  Maybe other artists will find these pictures just as inspiring as I have.....
There is a link under these pictures if you would like to see all the pictures I have in my photo album of my flowers.

It has been a couple of weeks since I have been able to add more sets on eBay.   With the kids tracked out it is very hard to maintain my regular work schedule.   I have a couple of other sets that will be posted hopefully later today or tomorrow also.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.............

BubbleGum Bling and ASpringGarden..........

Friday, February 19, 2010 at 11:53 AM
I just added a floral set, ASpringGarden.  Wow!! It has been quite a while since I made flowers.  There is so much small detail involved.  I used to hate making flowers because they were so hard to encase.  I guess practicing does pay off.  I also added another bling set, BubbleGumBling.  I hope to add more over the weekend.

More Blinging Beads....

Here are the latest sets of beads I just completed , adding to my "Bling Series" on eBay.

Blinging Beads

I finally have produced 3 more sets I just posted on eBay.  A couple of the sets have a bright bling to them.  The other set has a couple of the dichroic beads in it, but also has the golden metallic effect applied to alot of the beads.
Hopefully this year I won't be such a hard critic on my beads. Because of my perfectionism, I have tossed so many beads out my studio window into the surrounding flower bed. I'll catch my mom on occasion, pilfering through the flower bed picking up my "reject beads". Next thing I find is her wearing them on her necklace. The funny part is I often question why I tossed alot of the beads once I see them strung on a piece of jewelry. Hopefully this year I will ease up on my perfectionism and produce more beads to sale.  Better yet, maybe I will make all perfect beads and won't have to toss any more. Maybe one day.............

Beads, Beads, Beads...........

I have been so preoccupied with getting through Christmas, updating my website, blog, facebook, and so on, that I have finally just got around to posting my first set of beads for the year on eBay, Valentine Bling.  I have a couple other sets to add this weekend.  It is just a matter of taking the pictures and posting them.  It sounds so easy and yet finding the time to do all I have to get done is sometimes overwhelming.  SIGH!!!!!
My first few sets I am posting will all have the dichroic(glitter effect) application that everyone seems to love right now.  I have been told dichroic was originally developed by NASA.  I have yet to actually look up exactly what it was used for by them, but that is on my list of "To Do's".  The type of dichroic I am using is a newer application of the product.  It is alot thicker and brighter then most other dichroic on the market.  I have heard it referred to as "pure dichroic".  Having used the older dichroic applications and now this newer type, I completely understand why they refer it as the "pure dichroic".

Hopefully this year will I will be able to push myself to make more beads and increase the market of my website.  I will work hard and do my best; and hopefully, I will reap the benefits.  Wish me luck......
